(VIDEO) Putting it All Together: What Are You Wearing for a Day In? A Night Out?

What are you wearing to stay in? To go out? Spanx? A girdle? Both? (One is plenty, just so you know.) Sheila and Loralee spent a morning recently hanging out at Pioneer Woman's lodge, dishing about what they wear for a day in and a night out; Ree stopped by to talk about jeans (her go-to for day) and the LBD (not in her closet).

Wish you could have been there? Well, you can! Thanks to the miracle of video.

But you'll have to bring your own cinnamon rolls.

See what the other Putting It All Together bloggers have to say:

Your turn: did they get it right? What are you wearing for a day in? A night out? And all those hours in between? Are "clean" jeans the uniform for a night out, or are you going all out and putting on a dress? And how often do you leave the house in pajama pants? Be honest -- we're all friends here.

I am entirely serious. Let's do it. Expect a long string of emails with dress suggestions.

So now that we have the "it can be as comfortable as pajamas" thing settled, I think Susan needs to help me find a dress that minimizes my very fugly and problem-ed legs for BlogHer. (On a budget of course)

Think of the challenge!! :)

GRIN.

I agree jeans are up there with the LBD. This spring you see DENIM everywhere - chambray shirts, vests, shorts, dresses. I love that because I LIVE in jeans, my favorite is the GINGER (slack style)from Seven for Mankind. And now 99% of denim has some sort of stretch fabrication in them, standard! I'll admit I own 4 pair of Gingers! Different wash and of course a size up for brunch days! Amen.

Great snippet of life on the PDub ranch and the infamous yoga pants!! Thanks!

I swear by my black yoga pants, since anything tight has bothered my sciatica. Spending the day in jeans hurts sometimes! Also, since they're black and have a tapered leg, I can actually wear them with a bit of a heel. When you feel good in what you wear, you look good, too!

Leggings. I wear them everyday. I wear them under dresses, under long shirts, or with t-shirts when I'm working out. You get an elastic waist with leggings, so the muffin top/bloated tummy/deflated basketball is nice & comfy.

Leggings.

Super cute, ladies!

I've always been a jeans-and-T girl, and I'm lucky that I can get away with it in everyday life (either in my casual office or at home). So how surprised was I when I realized that getting really dolled up for a special occasion can be fun? I'm lucky to have a great group of friends here who won't think twice about putting on the LBDs for a night out (or in), and recently I've come to embrace the fishnet stockings, red lipstick, and up-do as part of my personal style. The little girl in jeans would never have believed you if you told her she'd one day wear dresses on purpose!

Jeans are my little black dress. Then again, a night out involves a bookstore and a coffee shop. What can I say? I'm way too glamorous.

I love that bright yellow, frilly top paired with dark jeans. I think it's the perfect look for night. It says I'm feminine and beautiful in comfortable way.

Which is usually a good chunk of January and February. It helps me make an effort when really all I want to do is crawl back into bed.

RJ has good taste - Susan Wagner, Queen of Spain and Lisa Stone.

She was really into the whole Beautyhacks section of BlogHer and of course Susan Wagner held a lot of sway over her. (Rightly so.)

She's backed away from the beauty a bit so it's all QueenofSpain/Lisa Stone all the time again.

I suspect Susan will make another appearance in our lives next year.

Frequently, when I'm getting ready to leave the house and trying to decide what to wear a little voice in my head asks, "Would Susan Wagner approve?" Sometimes it's yes, sometimes no. Sometimes I care, sometimes I don't. (Like on the days we have pre-work breakfast with friends and I need to be out of the house by 7am.)

When I'm at home it's yoga/pajama pants, a tanktop with a shelf bra and if it's chilly a hoodie or my bathrobe.

Work - dress pants or jeans (it's a casual office) and a sweater or button up shirt with a cami or a sleeveless shirt with a cardi.

Evening out? What I wear to work unless we're doing something like the ballet and then we glam it up.

That dress is like pajamas -- thus proving that you CAN get dressed and still be comfortable. Promise. ;)

Though expensive, Theory clothing is beautifully made and transitions just as beautifully from day to night. Jeans, dresses, jackets and pants - they have it all! Find it at your sponsor Macy's store on State in Chicago - the 3rd floor is whatever the polar opposite of a dream deferred would be.

Seriously, shouldn't it? I have a flannel robe, flannel sheets and flannel PJs in winter.

The only thing that isn't flannel is my ball cap (Hi Just_Margaret! Me too.) and the five barrettes in which I keep my hair oh so attractively.

That said, I'm with Sheila/Xiaolin Mama. When I go out, I love to dress up. Perhaps a little black dress made of flannel...unless I can find a little number as cute and comfy looking as the one you wore April 6 Susan.

See everyone? Susan makes it look so easy...check out her posts called "What I Wore in 2010 Friday Playdate.

I am a pajama princess for sure. Around the house, if I am not going out anywhere and will be doing laundry, housework, and schooling the children, I hang out in my skivvies - well, pajamas are probably a better way to express it. I'm comfortable and I don't have to wear a bra. I hate bras. Fortunately I don't have a lot up front, so I can get away without wearing one. I also wear my hair pulled back in a headband around the house. I hate my hair in my face.

If I am painting (I am an artist in oils) I put on my overalls and an old t-shirt. Most of my clothes (especially my overalls) are covered in oil paint. I'm a messy painter.

If I am going out, I will put on the makeup, the fragrance, and a nice dress or slacks with heals, a scarf, and whatever else will pull my outfit together. I like to look nice and feel good when I go out with my family or out with my hubby. Sometimes my children don't recognize me when I get dressed up. It's amazing what a little makeup, a nice hairstyle, and some good clothes will do for you. They sure do a lot for me!

I enjoyed the video--It was fun seeing you ladies chatting! A lot of time, creativity and hard work has obviously gone into this--great job to all!

So to the question at hand...if I'm "in", I'm in jeans or yoga pants (though I call them work out pants, but I think it's the same thing) during the day.

Like Loralee, I really like a nice tailored pair of pants when I want to spiff things up in the evening--and classics *work*. This is helpful for the daytime because if I'm in business/meeting mode, those going-out clothes crossover to going-to-meetings clothes very easily.

Serious going-out-on-the-town doesn't comes along much here in rural NH, but when it does, I don't have a little black dress--I have a hot little red one! Problem is, I can no longer rock the gorgeous black stilettos that perfect the look for more than maybe two hours! :^)

Oh, and yes, I'll leave the house in PJ pants--but that's typically if I don't actually have to get out of the car. Otherwise, it's jeans, and a ballcap (to hide the unwashed hair!)

And I really wish I could wear jeans instead.

Or yoga pants.

Even with holes.

Whenever it's an option I work the jeans (or the hol(e)y yoga pants. The little black dress has its place, but it sure feels like we have a lot less places that call for it.
