UPDATE:
I returned the item, the cashier once I explained to her that the coat was cancerous barely wanted to touch it. She called over an asst. manager who said "We will look into it". Burlington coat factory emailed me back saying they would get in touch with the buying dept. US polo assn. hasn't responded to my complaint via email. I did however hear from PVCfree.org and they are going to help me follow up on this.

I don't think it is ethical for a company to market cheap clothing for kids when the clothing is toxic. I guess I am not surprised as much as I am angry. Anyway, my blog site has the links for anyone to view if interested in writing a letter to either company. That being said, apparently Target has agreed to stop selling toys and other products with PVC in them.
Read here about it in the Wall Street Journal .

Any ideas or suggestions, I would love to hear them!

I am really ticked off. I just spent two hours on my day off with my two toddlers at Burlington Coat Factory. I was admittedly there to buy a cheap winter coat for my youngest son. You can imagine how distracted I was at the store anyway I got home, and had my son try the coat on for daddy, when I noticed a funny odor. The coats main material turns out to b 80% PVC. I am so pissed off. It is by a company called US Polo Assn. (USPA). There is a tiny American flag on the tag, underneath it says in very small letters "Made in China" underneath that it says not affiliated with Polo Ralph Lauren.

I was so surprised that I bought my kid a jacket made of a known carcinogen. Here I am worried about lead in the Thomas the tank engine toys, when now I have to make sure I sniff all the kids clothing so that I am aware it isn't made with PVC. I emailed Burlington to let them know how I feel and I also emailed the guy who runs PVC.ORG. I figured it would be good to post here also as I am sure I am not the only parent out there who would like to know that PVC can be i found in clothing.

Anyway I am sure I will have updates when I hear back from Burlington. Of course I will return the coat, but I think
Burlington should return all the coats to the manufacturer as well.
