Queen Latifah To Host the BlogHer '13 Voices of the Year Community Keynote!
Yesterday there wasn't just one #RoyalBirth. BlogHer announced the arrival of a QUEEN. Queen Latifah, that is.
Now, Queen Latifah is an accomplished person. She's a musician, award-winning actress, record-label president, author, entrepreneur, and Cover Girl. She has earned a Golden Globe Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Image Awards, and a Grammy Award as well as nominations for six additional Grammys, an Emmy, and an Oscar. And this fall she's going to add daytime talk show host to her long list.

But to many in our community she is much more. She is a role model. A pioneer. An inspiration. A life raft during some stormy seas of life. You only need to read this post by BlogHer's Love & Sex section editor Feminista Jones or this one by longtime community member and 2013 Voice of the Year Kelly Wickham (and read the comments) to see the impact she has had on all kinds of women.
So we are beyond proud to announce that Queen Latifah will be the emcee for the 2013 Voices of the Year Community Keynote. She will welcome our 12 Community Keynote readers, and the full complement of our 100 Voices of the Year to the stage on Friday night to share the heart of the BlogHer community: Our words, our images, our hearts and minds.
When looking at the description of Queen Latifah's new show, I saw that she will be doing in-studio interviews, comedy and music -- of course! -- and she will also be journeying into communities across the country to share compelling storiesof everyday heroes who are doing extraordinary things. I know that if she's looking for stories, the BlogHer '13 Voices of the Year is a great place to start!
And she agrees :)
As she shared with us, "When I saw your categories for the Voices of the Year -- Humor and Heart, Op-Ed and Inspiration -- it spoke to everything I envisioned for The Queen Latifah Show. To entertain, inspire and spark conversation. I am honored to be a part of the Voices of the Year celebration and this very special BlogHer '13 moment!"
The feeling is mutual. All Hail the Queen indeed!
