Well, it's official. I have been a blogger for a year now. And what a year it's been.

But sadly, the ole blog doesn't care. Did I get flowers? Did I get candy? A card? Anything? Nope. Obviously we are in an unhealthy relationship. But I can't help myself; I keep coming back for more.

And the reason I'm back tonight is because I need the help of all you mom readers out there.

As you know I could have this baby any day now and while I'm prepared for the most part (bags packed, nursery done, etc.) I do have a couple of questions.

1. What did you listen to in the delivery room? Everything I've read has suggested taking music, but I can't think of what would be appropriate. I am NOT a new-agey Enya/Yanni/wind whistling through the trees music lover. In fact, my music tastes lean more towards Madonna, the Counting Crows and Broadway musicals. None of which seem all that soothing or delivery room appropriate. Especially since my fave Broadway musical, Rent, throws the F word around like crazy. Maybe that's not the 1st thing I want Little Ricky hearing.

I am taking my Ipod which has my whole music library on it, but I still don't know what I want to listen to.

So if I want music as a distraction, what should it be? On the other hand will I just find it annoying and want it to SHUT. THE. HELL. UP?!?

So blog friends, suggestions?

2. And now for the big question--FASHION. I have 2 going home outfits packed for me. One super comfy (workout pants, hoody, tennis shoes) and one a little cuter, but still comfy (maxi dress, sandals). The thing is in my head I know I will want to be comfy. After all I will have just squeezed a bowling ball through a straw.

But in my fashion loving heart I keep seeing Sarah Jessica Parker the day she and Matthew Broderick brought their son home from the hospital. Remember that? She was dressed to the nines--fabulous dress, full hair and make-up, HEELS! She was probably terribly uncomfortable and doing the best acting of her life that day as she smiled for the cameras and prayed for sweats, but she looked damn good!

I know I will end up in one of my comfy outfits, but there is a part of me that wants to come sailing out of the hospital dressed to kill. But really? How realistic is this? And what's the point? It's not like I will have paparazzi waiting for me (other than my mom and dad!)

So ladies, what did you wear home from the hospital? Were you comfy? Cute? Both?

Share, but make it snappy because I think this little guy could come sooner rather than later! :)

Thanks for the comments, ladies.  Just 6 hours after posting this I was at the hospital in labor and had my son 16 hours later.  I ended up going the no music route as I just went inside myself every time I had a contraction and found talking, touching, etc to be a distraction.

And I also went comfy when it was time to go home.  Now that I've been through the experience and see how hard it is to get around for a few days I'm in awe of those women who check out of the hospital dolled up in heels.  I never would have made it!  :)

Well, first I was going to give some suggestions but then I saw that this was posted ten days ago. Considering that you were about to pop at that date, you may very well have already birthed your bundle and no longer need advice soooo...

Well wishes!

Music - I was one of those who wanted it QUIET once things got going. Don't LOOK at me, don't TALK to me, and above all dear god DON'T TOUCH ME, lol. Before labor really got going the first time (I was induced so it took a while) we all sat around chatting, laughing, visiting, and watching Lord of the Rings. Once the contractions really started to hurt though, I wanted quiet and was very glad to have it. I went natural for many hours before finally giving in to the epidural...and then, I slept until it was time to push because I was exhausted. :P

The second time, I opted for the epidural as soon as we got to the hospital, and my daughter was born only a couple hours later. And, again, it was nice and quiet, and even though I wasn't in a lot of pain, I really enjoyed that. She came out pretty quick but it took longer to get her body out of my, erm, 'straw' than it did my son's...there was some rotating or some such that needed to happen. And even though it was uncomfortable, I still look back and remember how peaceful the room was. My delivery doctor, the nurses, my husband; it was just us and we were all so quiet and relaxed. Even the lights were dim and cozy. It was kind of awesome.

So that's just me. I opt for quiet.

As far as clothes...I'm a comfy kind of gal anyway, and after a day or two in a hospital gown I was glad as can be to throw on an oversized t shirt and my jeans. Jeans have never felt so good. Both of mine were vaginal births and here's what I can tell you when you're picking out clothes:

1) your stomach will be lumpy. Probably much lumpier than you would expect. PREPARE FOR THIS.

2) Your boobs will be bigger and possibly leakier.

3) You are probably going to have the world's largest maxi-pad AND an ice pack between your legs. Even if you feel pretty good, that's a lot of padding to accommodate, lol.

I will vote for 'comfy' every time. :P

Best of luck!
