A Radio Show About Open Adoption

Earlier this afternoon, Dawn of This Womans Work, Brandy of Our Life in the Desert and I, along with an adoption professional, participated in an (Blog Talk Radio) interview with Dawn Davenport of Creating A Family. It was an interesting experience for all of us and I think we learned more about one another. The topic was open adoption and we bounced around questions that were sent in from people who are dealing with issues or researching the topic. The four of us brought in the perspective of an adoptive parent, two birth parents, an adoptee and an adoption professional. Panels like this are important because they bring together those various thoughts and experiences.

I encourage you to give it a listen. (If you're coming in to this post way after today, it is the show titled Open Adoption.) I've written my brief thoughts post-interview (including the links to the posts I mentioned about birth parent regret not needing to be a scary thing) and will write again tomorrow about the one thing I disagreed with during the interview.

In the end, many people out there have questions about open adoption. I hope some of them were answered and that a continuous dialogue can take place on these topics.
