-- London should just punt now on the 2012 Opening Ceremonies. There is no way they can compete with Beijing. I suggest something typically British then just get on the Games. Elton John performs a special version of "Candle in the Wind", the Queen removes the Olympic torch from her pocketbook and lights the flame, then everybody has tea.
-- I predict American parents will be signing their children up for drumming lessons in droves. Sales of lighted drumsticks will soar; sales of lighted suits will not.
-I love Bob Costas. He is my Walter Cronkite. But, Bob, the hair is not good. They are called "lowlights" and you should get some.
-No woman looks good in a golf shirt. After nine million hours of programming, can't somebody at NBC get those women correspondents something flattering to wear, something with a v-neck?
-So China can put on a 300 million dollar opening ceremonies flawlessly but can't quite get the entire US national anthem to play after Micheal Phelps' gold medal? With the US president in attendance? I'm sure Tom Brokaw would have some pithy political analogy for this like "house of cards" or "bread and circuses", but I am not Tom Browkaw. So I'll just say, "Hmm. Fishy."
-Love the Debbie Phelps cam. And the parents in the t-shirts with their Olympians names on them. I am officially a middle-aged sportsmom when shots of the parents make me tear up, not shots of the athletes.
-Those male gymnast for the US are adorable whoever they are.
- Dressage is fun to say, but not that fun to watch. Team handball looks like a games my kids made up and play against the garage. Indoor Olympic tennis does not do it for me; indoor Olympic volleyball does.
-How do Misty and Kerry keep those bikinis on? Glue? Tape? Velcro?
