Recipe for Double Chocolate Banana Muffins


This recipe comes from my Mom, and my boys love eating these chocolatey muffins when visiting her house. I usually warm them in the microwave and then add some extra protein to them – peanut butter! There’s nothing better than peanut butter and chocolate together. :)


  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup baking cocoa (powder)
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/3 cups mashed ripe bananas (2-3 medium)
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips


In large bowl, combine the first six ingredients.


In a small bowl combine mashed bananas, oil, and egg. (I usually use a fork to mash my bananas, but I discovered that my potato masher works quite well!)

Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.


Fold in chocolate chips.


Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups ¾ full. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until done.
Makes about 1 dozen.
