Red, White & Blue Sliders For the Fourth

BlogHer Original Post

With the Fourth of July right around the corner, I thought I'd make something red, white and {sort of} blue that doesn't take much effort at all, that isn't a dessert {I know, shocking...} and will have your taste buds singing praises. Friends, meet my Summer Strawberry Sliders with Blue Cheese Sauce. Read: These are not plain, boring burgers made mini. They're perfect for BlogHer's Summer Entertaining series, brought to you by Home Depot.

Summer Strawberry Sliders 1

Yes, I have done it. Strawberries. On a baby burger. With cool and creamy blue cheese sauce. Weird? Perhaps....but in a completely amazing and different way that will make you wonder "Why the blank did I never think of this before?"—true story. I have fallen in love with these pretty little things, and I don't care who knows it. My husband has also fallen in love with these. So has my three-year-old. (But I think she likes them 'cause they're itty bitty.)

People will sing your praises if you feed them these. I give you permission to say, "Why, yes, I know I'm a rock star. Thank you for noticing how utterly awesome I am." For reals, people.

ENJOY! Have a happy and safe Fourth!

Summer Strawberry Sliders with Blue Cheese Sauce

Yield: 16 sliders

Ingredients:

For the blue cheese sauce:
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon white vinegar
4 teaspoons granulated sugar
salt & pepper, to taste
2 oz. blue cheese, crumbled

For the burgers:
1 lb. ground beef {80/20}
salt & pepper
1 cup sliced strawberries
1/4 cup chopped sweet onions
lettuce
16 slider rolls or sandwich bread cut out into circles

Directions:

Preheat outdoor grill to medium-high heat. In a small bowl, stir together all ingredients for the blue cheese sauce. Refrigerate.

Divide ground beef into 16 even portions and form into mini burger patties the size of the slider rolls. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Grill about 1-2 minutes per side or until cooked thoroughly. Rest 5 minutes, then assemble sliders.

To assemble, place lettuce on the bottom of the slider roll. Top with burger, strawberry slices, diced onion and blue cheese sauce. Top with other half of roll and repeat with the rest. Serve immediately.
