Reindeer Food

So today we made our first batch of Reindeer Food.

This is a bag of "food" that little ones spread on the lawn, front porch, or put into a bowl beside their stockings on Christmas Eve, to help sustain Santa's reindeer on their long voyage that night. After all, Santa gets all the cookies right? We often left a carrot or two for the reindeer, but this is much better. And besides, the glitter reflects the light and makes it much easier to find the right house.

So, to make our food, my 7 and 4 year old grandsons helped me put "quick" oats into a bowl. (You have to use the quick ones for obvious reasons). We then added glitter. Lots and lots of glitter. My 7 year old said, "Wow!! That looks magical!" We then added confetti, so it looks "like a party going on" they said. After a fair amount of mixing, we spooned it into bags and the boys put stars on the completed bags. Soo cute!

We now have dozens of bags of reindeer food ready for the craft Christmas Eve.

Next we'll make bags of Snowman Poop....for the naughty people.
