Repairing a Candle Flame Shawl


This shawl is four years old. It's my favourite one and I use it a lot. The pattern is a free one, the popular Candle Flame.

I got the yarn as a gift, it's Swedish but I don't remember the brand. It's hand dyed and beautiful, but not very strong. The shawl has thinned a lot with wear, although it has not been washed often. And yesterday this happened:

I don't know if it snagged on something or if a thread simply became to thin. But luckily I had kept a little bit of the original yarn so I could graft the hole together. I didn't attempt to keep the pattern; I just tried to close the hole as neatly as I could.
