Replacing Negative Habits

Identifying harmful habits takes diligence. Stick with it. Defining your wellness path involves introspection, creativity and honesty. As you work through Step 3 Identifying Negative Habits I also want you to think about identifying your positive habits. As we age, take on responsibilities, and learn how to survive in difficult economic times, we tend to leave out what truly bring us happiness. Imagine looking at your calendar and seeing it filled with activities you look forward to doing!

Here’s a few of my favorite things to do, hopefully it will get you motivated to book a massage, take a watercolor class or go ice skating with your kids. Start filling up your calendar with activities you truly enjoy, doing so will give you support and motivation to replace your harmful and unhealthy habits.

  1. Creating new recipes…it doesn’t have to be long and complicated either, sometimes it can be something as simple as adding raisins to yogurt that brightens my day.
  2. Daily exercise…I always feel better when I have moved and used my body. I truly enjoy walking my dog, working out to “The Bar Method” dvds, gardening and dancing. Just ask my family, rarely do I clean up the kitchen without the house filled with music and a few impromptu dance steps.
  3. Learning something new…I am someone that is happiest learning from and interacting with others. Maybe it is a new card game, dance step, musical instrument or language.
