Good news! The Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, site of all things BlogHer '09 (including BlogHer Business '09, taking place on July 23) is now taking our reservations!
To reserve your room via phone, just call (877) 242-2558 and let them know you're with BlogHer. As a reminder, BlogHer '09 takes place on Friday and Saturday, July 24-25. Our room rate is $199/night, and includes free in-room internet.
What's more, we've reserved as many rooms with TWO beds as the hotel would allow, in hopes of mitigating some of the BlogHer '08 spooning issues...
Of course, we'll be providing our designated BlogHer reservations URL just as soon as it's available, but thought you might want to get a head start on reserving your rooms now. Details on registration are coming soon, too.
Stay tuned!

FUN!
Just one more step making it all that more exciting! And wait...so that means no spooning this year?

Spooning is ALWAYS allowed, and encouraged!
But we assume that SOME of our attendees would prefer it it were not, you know, required. :)

Quick Question -
I plan on staying in Chicago about a week - do you know if the $199 rate is just for those two days, or if it can be extended?
- Maria
http://immoralmatriarch.com
It can be extended
Our room block is actually open from Monday (7/20) through and including Sunday night (7/26), but we have far more rooms reserved Thurs + Fri + Sat. Therefore the "shoulder" nights will sell out sooner.
Great question! And if you're planning on staying past those dates in one direction or another, you can always ask to see if they'll extend you the group rate...you never know!

I did ask about a rate extension for some of the next week, the agent tried but it wouldn't work. Oh well!

I agree with Elisa
If it helps you plan:
Conference programming will begin bright and early on Friday morning. Friday night we'll host a cocktail party.
Programming will resume (again) early on Saturday morning and we'll also conclude the day with a cocktail party.
So if you're limited to two nights' stay, you're probably weighing missing some of Friday morning's kick-off sessions against missing Saturday evening's closing reception. Tough choice!

roomies?
Newbie, and confused.
Will everyone have a roommate? And if so do we have to find one on our own or if we call and make the reservation without one, will be assigned one?
And whats the max roomies? Lastly, does that mean the "room rate" is split however many ways?
I'd LOVE to stay for 3 nights but don't know how I'll swing even one night if things stay the way they are now. But I only know one BlogHer that will attend and I'm sure she's got a zillion roommate requests.
Oh Boy..Oh Boy...Oh Boy
It's up to you
You can either opt to room with someone or book a room on your own, but it's up to you and the people you ask to room with to make that happen. Not everyone will have a roommate. There's usually a blog entry and/or forum post where people who are looking for roommates post to find/get to know one another, so definitely look for that if you're not able to room with the BlogHer you know.

So is it typical to share rooms with someone? I am so excited, Chicago is not that far from me, so will definitely work to make it up that way this year, YAY!

Roomies
It definitely helps to share the burden of the costs:) I just asked some of my favorite bloggers, and was estatic when they said yes! Plus, between the four of us, it makes the lead up to the conference that much more fun to chat about together, becasue my husband is already sick of me gushing about it:)

Conference roommates
It's great having a roommate at this conference. Midnight blogging pajama party! Spooning optional!
If you have a roommate, it's a good idea to bring a power strip. Hotel rooms sometimes don't have enough power outlets and with 3 bloggers in a room, all with laptops, phones, cameras, and other gadgets all with their own charger cords, it's a frenzied power cord moshpit in there. I also like to bring an extra little ethernet hub or wireless router. Then as long as there is an ethernet jack in the hotel room, you are all guaranteed to have good signal strength. 5 pairs of shoes and 30 pounds of electronic gadgetry in my backpack !

I'm so there!
I cannot wait for this conference. Last year I got so much information that inspired me to work in a very focused way on my blogging.
In 2009, I know I'll get even more out of the conference...plus I get to fly. Oooo, pretty clouds!
Hope to see you all there!

I saw that too! It can be very expensive to book 3 rooms, 3nights. $200+ for deposit. OUCH! I wanted to go ahead and book just in case but I'm hoping to have sponsors. Ugh

Do we know yet when the Early Bird Reg will
be up?
I think I registered in January last year (forget to be honest - blame @QueenofSpain, she had me revved up for like 6 months in advance!)
So I was just wondering if we'll know when the early reg is up?
Oh! for those who haven't done this before - there's usually a thread at somepoint of others who are BlogHer bound and would love to share the room cost with someone else - so if you don't think you know anyone going you could room with, it's a good time to make new friends!
See you there!

New to conference
This will be my first BlogHer conference and I'm so excited. I was just wondering generally how many people to a room? I thought I read somewhere that the $199 only applied to two people per room, but on here it sounds like most people room four to a room. How many to a room usually? I can't wait to find a roommate (first of all) and then meet everyone at the conference.
anyone?
I really want to go but have to have a roommate (or 3) before I can book any of it without having a nervous breakdown. I posted in the roommate forum but had no replies. So I'm trying here. If anyone's interested you can find my blog at http://www.lisanoel03.blogspot.com and you can email me at lisanoel03 at aol dot com
Squeeeeeeeee!
Made my room reservation just now and can't WAIT!!!!
How early IS early arrival? If I got there tomorrow, would that be too early?

Hostel anyone?
Do we have to stay at the hotel? There is a hostel a mile down the road for $34 a night. Thats a huge savings and I am down for an adventure.Good or bad idea? This will be my first time.
