Rice Cereal Ghosts, Frankenstein, Mummies

Rice Cereal Ghosts, Frankenstein, and Mummies!

Scare up some fun and delicious rice cereal treats decorated in ghost, Frankenstein, and mummy shapes!

For these fun treats, you will need:
  • Rice cereal
  • Butter
  • Marshmallows
  • Candy Melts (green and black for Frankenstein, white for ghosts and mummies). You can find these online or in local craft and cake supply stores.
  • Candies for decorations
  • Wax paper covered cookie sheet.

Frankenstein Directions:

1.   Make rice cereal treats (click here for directions) and press into a square or
rectangular pan. You could also buy pre-made ones, unwrap and heat for a
few seconds in the microwave to soften.
2.   Once set, cut into rectangular shapes for heads.
3.   Press a skewer or cookie/lollipop stick into the bottom of the treat.
4.   Melt the Candy Melts and dip the treats in.
5.   Let the excess drip off over the container.
6.   Place on wax paper.
7.   Decorate. For example, candy eyes or M&M's for eyes, gummy candies or gummy
worm for a mouth. For the neck bolts on Frankenstein, try using M&M's, Jujubes,
Rolos, or the ends of a Twix bar.
Set up: The Pez candies were the
perfect height to rest the head bolts
on so they could set.
8.   Place in refrigerator until set.
9.   Remove from skewers, if desired.
10. Attach eyes with melted Candy Melts. You could also pipe on eyes with melted Candy
      Melts.
11. Melt black Candy Melts.
12. Dip the top of Frankenstein's head into the black coating. Let set, or dip into crushed
Oreo Cookies. You could also use black icing to draw on hair.
Alternatives: Use white chocolate instead of Candy Melts (see Witch Pretzels) or use icing to cover the treats. If you don't have a stick, you can place the treats on a piece of wax paper and spoon Candy Melts over the treats. Use a knife to smooth it out and to get the sides. Let set. Turn over and coat the back side in Candy Melts as well. Let set. Trim off excess with sharp knife.

I did the mummies two different ways. Option 1 is the method listed above. Option 2 is to form wrappings out of rice cereal treats and press onto mummy and cover with Candy Melt. I don't think this way turned out quite as nice, but it could with more practice.
Mummy wrappings formed out
of rice cereal treats.
Completed rice cereal treat wrapping
