Riot! Don’t Diet! National Eating Disorder Awareness Week Music!

In honor of National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, I am revealing an original song of mine that I recorded last week. It is called "Fat Grrrls" and is my riot grrrl inspired anthem for all girls, fat, thin, tall, short, whatever to love themselves and F**K the rest.

Listen to "Fat Grrrls" here on my myspace page Electrik Emily Myspace. The lyrics are posted below.

Also, here is my main music website for those of you who are interested: Electrik Emily. If you love this song, please spread the word, twitter, facebook, email, whatever. Make sure those in your life are loved because of who they are and not how they look. Riot! Don't Diet!

Fat Grrrls

Intro:

I wanna see
Fat grrrls! Just like me!

My double Ds
Don’t fit in your tiny Ts
I’ve got hips and I’ve got thighs
To fit in skinny jeans I’d have to die, because

Pre-Chorus 1:
I won’t unload my junk
I’ll take up space all I want
I’m just your average girl
Living in your below average world

Chorus:
I wanna see
Fat grrrls just like me
I wanna see
Fat grrrls just like me

I don’t hate other girls
Don’t judge the lines or the curves
We’re all sisters in the fight
Fashion is a girl’s right, because

Pre-Chorus 2:
Something’s wrong with all of you
Plus size! That’s my attitude!
I’m just your average girl
Living in your below average world

Chorus
Solo
Verse 1

Pre-Chorus 3:
I’ve got the solution!
We need a revolution!
When the mannequins start to diet
We need a fat grrrl riot!

Extended Chorus:
I wanna see
Fat grrrls on TV
I wanna see
Fat grrrls in movies
I wanna see
Fat grrrls just like me
I wanna see
Fat grrrls on magazines
I wanna see
Fat grrrls just like me

Outro:
We want variety!
Don’t tokenize or patronize me!
I am happy!
I am healthy!
So don’t you go judging me!

The standards of beauty out there are unattainable. Newsweek's feature article this week explains that due to the use of Photoshop, literally even those celebrities who we think are "perfect" still are not good enough for the covers of most magazine. My song is for and inspired by all those who call bull**** on this and don't let it get them down.
