Road Trip to Michoacan
by Achaessa

They won’t list my blog on BlogHer – yet – seems I don’t post often enough for them, but that’s changing.  In the meantime, I wish they’d do a check every once in awhile on the blogs they do have listed – I tried several and they all came back “Page Not Found.”  What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, y’know.

Last week we took four days and went to Michoacan for a wedding.  Miguel’s friend from childhood – the youngest in his family and the last to marry at 33.  They actually got married in December, in a civil service just for the family, and then they lived apart in different cities until the church wedding this weekend.

In a couple of weeks they’ll move back to the husband’s family home where the widowed father and several of the older brothers live (married and single). According to Miguel’s mother and sister, Alejandro, Miguel’s friend, has been the bane of the daughters-in-law since adolescence.  The report is, he sits down at the kitchen table points at the woman and says, “You, serve my father and serve me.  Hurry up, we’re hungry.”  more...

Thanks

We do clearly state our guidelines for being accepted into the blog lists.

1. Your blog is written by:
- A woman or a group of women
- A man who attended BlogHer
- A man whose blogging is of particular quality and relevance to the women who participate in and read BlogHer, as determined by an editor
- Two or more people, women and men, where the blogs by men satisfy the above requirements
2. Your blog contains no unacceptable content
3. Your blog is active and open to the public.
- Your blog must be at least 30 days old.
- Blogs that are not updated regularly will not be accepted.

I'm sorry if you somehow missed those when you listed your blog. We'd also be happy to review your blog again once you do meet those guidelines.

As for blogs in the blog list that are no longer available - we do realize it's a problem and we have been working on this issue. Unfortunately, with a blog list as large as ours is (with about 10,000 blogs listed), it's impossible for someone to click every listing on a regular basis. We rely on the kindness of strangers and BlogHer members to drop us an email and let us know that they've found a no longer active blog lists.

If you'd like to share the names of the blogs you discovered were inactive, we'd be happy to remove those from the blog lists.

Such a Tease

Hi, Denise. Yes, I did see the listing criteria and I think it was you (or someone at BlogHer) who kindly explained the reason for not listing my blog at this time. My opening paragraph was a tease - saying why you didn’t list it and that I will be posting more and qualifying for listing soon. Nothing personal against you gals at BlogHer - you’ve been great. Responsive, polite, professional. Love that. Thanks

As for the dead blogs, I don’t recall which they were, but will definitely let you know in the future, now that I know to do so. Perhaps you might add a note on the BlogHer blog list page that if folks come across dead links they should let you know.

Good idea

That would be Joy, who is awesome and works very hard to get blogs listed as quickly as she can. Did I mention she's awesome?

Please, if you stumble across those "dead blogs", I would love to hear from you. Adding messaging on the blog list page is a pretty darn good idea. Self-policing community is huge on my "love list".

Thank you!
