The Associated Press reports Karl Rove, President Bush's close friend and chief political strategist, announced Monday he will leave the White House at the end of August, joining a lengthening line of senior officials heading for the exits in the final 1 1/2 years of the administration.

Twistedchick http://www.greatestjournal.com/users/twistedchick/2365.html says, "It will be interesting to see how long the White House spins out the information here, how many days it will dominate the news hole. It will also be interesting to compare various US news sources and see whch aspects of the resignation are stressed, which are ignored and which news outlets stress which ones."
Here in Idaho http://www.here-in-idaho.com/2007/08/13/hey-karl-im-totally-hiring/ writes, "Dear Mr. Rove, There are some out there who are quick to call you ‘the Devil’ or ‘Turd Blossom‘ or ‘Sir Crapalot’ or whatever. I’m not one of these people. I recognize that you may be evil, but you’re one smart cookie. This is why I’m inviting you to join my team and be my adviser.
Here are the things I need advising on:
# How to make money off of this blog
How to make money off of being awesome
How to lose weight without changing eating habits, exercising, or doing anything else differently in my life
How to trick a full-time maid into living at my house for free
Sedating children legally
Convincing the world that 5′2 is the new black
So anywhoo..I know you’re just itchin’ to get started on my campaign. Just think, Karl, together we can take over the world. Karl + Kristi = Oh so right in every way."

Ready to party, but ...
I am ready for the "Karl is leaving" party. But, Rove never does anything without a fully calculated strategy and one that is sure to serve us boss. What's the motivation and the potential upside to him and Bush by this move? That's the back story I want to know.
Resignation in name only?
Rove is such a consummate strategist that I wonder if even his resigning isn't a strategy of some sort. Also, my deep distrust makes me think that his resignation isn't really a resignation at all, it's the process of putting someone else in the cross hairs while Rove continues to stir the right wing cauldron.
Jeez, I sound crazy. Black helicopters, next up.

Maybe not, but a girl can dream. I'm with you, I think there is more to this very calculated turn of events.
