RSS feed for all posts?

Hi,

I used to have one RSS feed in my aggregator that allowed me to see all new posts on BlogHer, editors contributions as well as other posts (but not the comments). It doesn't work anymore, and I can't find a new RSS feed that does the same.

Idea anybody?

Hi Marie,

Denise might know the answer to this. Yesterday she posted about it (http://www.blogher.com/bloghers-new-site-youre-invited-blog-here#comment...) and gave this link:

However, I'm not having any luck with that link so it could be temporarily down. I know she's very well aware of the RSS biz and is working on it (and a lot of other things!) relating to the new site.

Not working...

The main page feed, the home page feed, the one that feeds all new original content at BlogHer is not working. It's on the priority list today.

Many of the other feeds are working, including the all new comment feed... as soon as the feed issue is resolved, I'll post a message here in the forums.

Back Up Yet?

Do we know if that is working now? Having just gotten back to sorting through my RSS-missed-stuff while away, I'm not getting any BlogHer stuff! I'm really bummed!

I just added the above stated link to my Google reader and it doesn't have anything new since the 27th. Any ETA on when this will be fixed or if there's a new link or if I'm just physically unable to work the new site at all? *kicks self*

Hi Jenna,

I don't believe Denise has posted that the feeds are working yet. I'm waiting for the comments feed to show context (as opposed to a stream of disparate paragraphs) as well as a feed for all the editors posts and a feed for everybody but the editors. Denise said she would make an announcement when they were working and asked me to be 'extra patient' - so I am.

RSS is working, mostly....

Here are the feeds that are working:

1) CE blog post feed (this is the main BlogHer feed right now)

2) Topic area feeds (this feeds blog posts from CEs, blog posts from members and blog list additions)

3) Individual member feed, here's the formula (insert your membername in place of mine) http://www.blogher.com/blog/denise/feed/

4) Comment feed

5) Forums feed

6) Headlines feed

7) News feed

What is not working is a feed that will pull in non CE blog posts that go to the front page. We're working on that. (We're also working on the missing orange RSS icons...)

As I said, it's the "all posts" tab. There is not a non-CE feed because CE posts feed into the "all posts" tab.

So, you can either have all blog posts, CE only blog posts (which you always wanted on the old site), forums, all comments, individual topic areas, all blogs, or individual bloggers feeds.

But where's this feed?? I've got the all posts feed and the comments feed. But you just mentioned there being a feed for just the CE's - that's the link I can't find.

Buttons?

I'm not sure I know what you mean when you say "buttons". Do you mean the orange RSS syndication buttons that you click to add blogs to your feed reader? If so, I mentioned in my last post that we are working on bringing those back to all pages with RSS.

Or are you asking how to find CE blog posts and all topics blog posts?

If you look at the left nav, those are topics. Click into a topic and you'll see "recent editor posts" (those are CE blog posts) and "all blog posts" (those are a combination of CE and BlogHer member posts.) If you go to the homepage, you'll see those tabs again - every blog post written on BlogHer goes tot he front page (but right now the feed for the front page/home page only sends CE blog posts.)

If this isn't what you meant by "buttons" please come back and clarify, I'll be happy to help.

buttons, but what I understand from your other posts under this thread is that we now have to suscribe to individual feeds for each topic - is that correct?
And later the feed for the home page should send all posts and not only CE posts?

I can live with a dozen of individual feeds for a while but it is a pain for my aggregator LOL. But it is better than nothing anyway.

You don't have to but you can

http://www.blogher.com/atom/feed will give you all of the blog posts that appear on the homepage, in the recent editor posts tab.

There will never be one feed that feeds every single item of content on BlogHer... at least I don't think there will be. ;-)

I'm hoping to see one feed that sends all new blog posts, in fact I'm hoping to see that by early next week. You'll still have to subscribe to the comment feed, the forum feed and the blog list feed if you want to see every bit of content. :-)

And the buttons are coming. The designers are trying to decide where they'll be placed on each of the different pages.

Can you please post the links? Also, I still can't make any sense out of the comments feed. Without a reference to WHAT they are in comment to, the comments are just a stream of non-contextual paragraphs.

Yes Please

Honestly, I can't find the RSS feeds for over half of the things you've mentioned. Links would really, really be beneficial to those of us still struggling with the new site. I searched all over for the things you've mentioned last night and can't find the majority of them. I've only found the Conference Feed, which works fine, and one other, which is defunct still as of the 27th.

The icons

I've asked for the icons to return.... and that subscription page is in need of updating. It's also on the list of things to fix.

You don't need to "find them" if you just use the forumla I gave and manually add the feeds to your reader, it works. I know it's a pain but until we get those icons back... and that subscription page edited... that's what we've got.

I need feeds too, believe me when I say I have been feeling your pain.

If you want to subscribe to all of the blog posts by Lisa Stone, you would add this feed to your reader:

Or your BlogHer blog posts (once you have some!):

See the pattern - grab the url for the area of the site you want to get a feed for and add /feed/

This is what I'm using in Google Reader:

1.) http://www.blogher.com/atom/feed (this feed seems to just bring in the Contributing Editors now whereas before, it brought in everything).
2.) http://www.blogher.com/crss (this feed is the Comments Feed. However, it doesn't have any context i.e, Comment on the post: such and such: - very tough to comprehend).
