Run down to Vintage Glam: Curio Cabinet

This is a personal project of mine. I had this curio that was given to me from a friend. At the time it was given to me, I couldn't turn it down because it was the nicest piece of furniture I could own and since it was a gift I decided I would make room for it in the tiny two bedroom apartment that we lived in at the time. This piece of furniture has traveled with us from house to house, across the country and back a few times, and needless to say… it was starting to look a little beaten up. In addition to the tired look, it wasn't really the style of my house anymore (it's amazing how many times I have changed my home decor over the years!), and I was thinking it might just be time to get rid of it.

It wasn't until I was window shopping at Pier One Imports, I realized how much of the merchandise I absolutely love in the store…. but I also realized how much I absolutely cannot afford! This is when I decided to re-evaluate this piece of furniture… I had an couple of inspiration pieces from the store, but didn't want to spend a whole lot of money on this project. Which is one of the great things about re-finishing furniture, right? It doesn't have to be very expensive for it to have a huge impact and an even bigger transformation.
