Sarah's in full press this week and Sacha's hustling Borat on DVD via NPR so no surprise I find they align nicely in the mind, after all, both play to base emotions and motives and both insist wit and science are no longer necessary in either comedy or politics.

Sacha brought along his producer on the NPR interview and I was surprised to hear him say that he and Sacha were doing God's work. He delivered that straight, no chaser. Sacha said he'd no idea how they could incite such anger, even though he admitted that each gag demanded they seek counsel from either an attorney and/or the local police. Is that pushing the envelop or just WTF?!

He wasn't in character, he was Sacha Baron Cohen.

So we learn that Sacha has a direct line to God and we've all seen Sarah talking in tongues on Youtube. Also, they both rely on hoax, Sarah keeps altering the latest take on her recent history and Sacha deceptively sets up his prey.  Neither kind expose truth both leave you empty, wanting, wishing for a memorable extract, if only to provide the benefit of the doubt.

They' both exploit the most insecure and the most fearful, intent on humiliation, not illumination.  They both provide the same kind of train wreck, the media cannot do anything but apply the spotlight, short but white hot.

Sarah's book is all about getting even, Sacha just wants to make everyone uncomfortable. Apparently in Borat he could have taken the mickey out of Jon Bolton or Tom Ridge but chose Ron Paul.  Anyone who's followed Ron Paul could be excused for thinking he's just about the most earnest and fiscally responsible politician on the trail.  They said Ron Paul was the powerful, uh no, no one thought Ron was gunna win and he's never dictated the international stage like Bolton

Is Sacha really just an asshole?  Is Sarah as unaware as she appears to be? I've no idea.  But when listening to Sacha's accent from Stains and Sarah's Fargo accent, I can almost forgive their spiritedness.  Was that cheap, well, forgive me, please. Either birth place must inspire little beyond payback. I've never been to Alaska but I've been to Stains.

A lot of cosmic chaos ensues if only because they're so immersed in their role they've forgotten why they put on the costume in the first place, picking up the pace as they run in their concentric circles.

Both confessed to wishing to create their own reality, well, sure, but what's apparent to me is they both shovel out the same kind of willful ignorance masquerading as native wit.
