If you will be attending BlogHer '11, check out these wonderful beaches (and even a few for your dog) located just minutes away from downtown San Diego.

Coronado Municipal Beach

Coronado Beach is rated as one of the top ten beaches in the world. This beach is a favorite for locals and tourists. Three beach zones: North Beach (check the beach rules first, but you can bring your dog to certain areas at this beach),  Central Beach (next to the lovely Hotel Del Coronado) and The Shores (perfect for longboarding and bodyboarding).

This beach is my personal fave. And be sure to stop by the restaurant Jakes for lunch or dinner by beach. The village of Del Mar is located only 20 miles north of downtown San Diego. Watch the waves right now with this Del Mar live video web cam link.

True white sand beaches. Underwater reefs. Cool cliffs. Expert surfbreaks. La Jolla Cove with caves is popular with kayakers. Seal watching at Seal Rock or near the breakwall at Children's PoolLa Jolla Shores probably has the most gentle waves, great for kids. Charming shopping and restaurants in nearby La Jolla.

If you are looking for variety, this aquatic playground has it all: beaches, islands, coves, restaurants, bathroom facilities, picnic areas, boat rentals, lifeguards, and parking--come early to find a spot.
