The Sandoval's Do Santa Fe

I've had an interesting month so far! We spent a week in Albuquerque the second week of January. It's cold in the desert in the winter, especially at night time. But not as cold as Wisconsin is. During the day 40 feels like 50, it warms up so nicely.

We took Michael's daughter Diane along with us, I was so excited that she wanted to come along. She's not been there since the first year that Michael and I were together in 1999! Now she is 26, and she was excited to see her family. This warmed my heart. We were eager to show Diane New Mexico as we know it, and what we do when we are there.

Santa Fe was our first day trip. And first off, we were on a great boot search. Each of us ended up sporting new cowboy boots, and quite beautiful ones at that! And how cool is it to wear boots that we bought in Santa Fe? The first place we wandered into was a used boot store, and we all agreed that if we were going to pay that much for used boots, we may as well spring for new ones. There wasn't much difference in cost. I guess you are paying for the "already broken in" factor with used boots.

New boots!

After the Great Boot Expedition, we all wore our new cowboy boots into Tomasita's in Santa Fe, for lunch. The food was really good, but they charge for chips and salsa. That was a first for me, paying for chips and salsa in a Mexican restaurant!

From there we went to downtown Santa Fe, of course driving down Sandoval street before parking. There's a bit of a thrill being a Sandoval on Sandoval Street!

We wandered into the Lucchese store, and each of us were shocked at what boots cost in downtown Santa Fe! The first pair Michael looked at were 3,000.00! And they didn't look much different than the ones he paid 300 for at Boot Barn!

Michael and I have been to Santa Fe so many times, we've wandered through the shops, we've bought trinkets and decorations for our home there. This time was no different. We came home with 4 kokopelli placemats. However, after this purchase, I was done done done shopping.

I just wanted to read. So I took the keys and went to the car, fired up the heat and read while Michael and Diane browsed the stores in Santa Fe. This was my view from the rental car while I read in Santa Fe.

Sitting in the car reading. We shopped till we dropped!

I started the vacation finishing up David Balducci's book The Forgotten. I'v forgotten  what it was about already because I've read 7 other books since the beginning of January. That might be another reason I've not been writing much! I've been reading every spare moment I have, luxuriating in it.. Something I've not done for quite a while. More on that later!
