I'm an undecided Democratic voter.  I'm leaning toward Obama but I'm finding it very difficult to filter through all of the information put out there by the MSM.  I find it hard to trust the MSM for an unbiased look at the candidates.  As a result, I've been turning to alternative sources for news.  I am a Democrat who voted for Hillary Clinton but I am finding it difficult to put my trust in Obama.  Recently, I've been researching the ACORN connection to Obama and I came across this site.

http://www.justsaynodeal.com/acorn.html

This site brings up some very alarming connections to Obama.  After reading the information, I'm very concerned about voting for him.  Barack Obama needs to address these issues.  Why is he unwilling to do this?

What say you?

I really do like to do my homework Cathy, so I am glad to provide you a couple of links...

 http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/17/mccains-atte...

http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008/07/top-senate...

John McCain has a speech in Congress from 2005 where he warned that Fannie and Freddie were headed in this direction and there had to be steps taken immediately to avoid this. At the time, he was co-sponsor of a bill to crack down on these two, but it didn't pass. I guess too many hands in the till."

Actually McCain did make a speech in 2005 and he did cosponser S. 190 [109th]: Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act.

You should read it:
"1) in lieu of the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), an independent Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Agency which shall have authority over the Federal Home Loan Bank Finance Corporation, the Federal Home Loan Banks, the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae), and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac)"

This bill was transfering any remaining oversight FROM the government TO an INDEPENDENT! That meant it had NO FEDERAL OVERSIGHT AT ALL!

Furthermore, the Keating 5 thing has been actually investigated.  Do you think that Senator Obama's large donations from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be investigated?  Do you think they will investigate Chris Dodd or Barney Frank?

and you state there is plenty of documentation, can you please link to such documents. I might be over tired but I haven't been able to find any reliable source that says such a thing.

Also an interesting article you might want to read is this one about the Keating 5. ( http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-brooks25...,0,5467109.column )

I think keeping an open mind is always a good thing.  I was always taught by my parents that voting was a privilege, and to protect it, we should always be informed.  I do think this is a particularly trying election time.  There has been a lot of information out there concerning voter fraud.  Especially in the Texas primaries and caucuses.  I think I only need remind people of 2000 to make you aware that voter fraud does exist.

It's always best to do your own research and make your own decisions based on that research.  For example, there is plenty of documentation that the Wall Street "bailout" was predicted in 2005 by Senator John McCain and Senator Dole, among others, who called for better oversight on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  So, it's best not to allow yourself to believe everything you read in some of the newspapers and certainly not everything you hear on the television.

Read some of the essays by the writers here.  I'm sure you haven't taken the time to do that, but rather just followed instructions on where to post.

The women here are learned, skilled and highly educated - as is Kim above who took the time to answer your questions posted under false pretenses.  They represent all ideological stripes already and more likely than not get their information from their communites, their projects and charities and scholarly works rather than the outlets that you and PUMA frequent.

You recently found Just Say No Deal?  That's proof of your attempt to mislead the people here right off the bat.

This blog and its well-respected writers have won numerous awards and mentions in the 'MSM' you hate so much.

Oh, and I'm not Liz.  You certainly can't think you only have one person watching your actions, can you?

about all the claims that is on that site but I can tell you that I have been a volunteer for the Obama campaign and we have never ever been trained to use intimidation and confrontational tactics. Exactly the opposite has been taught and if we are being confronted or anything negative comes up we are to turn it around and state the positive. As far as intimidation and confrontational tactics I have seen a lot of that going on the McCain/Palin side.

As far as fact checking goes you can check out factcheck.org

and a new site in where I check out all the facts that I report

You, know "Mick", I'm not trying to silence you, but to respect the great women on this site who write for each other from their own experiences and wisdom, not in any attempt to bamboozle for groupthink political purposes.

You're not a confused Dem considering Obama.  You hate Obama with every fiber of your being and that's your right, but you and the other PUMA come to this wonderful site lying about your intentions and requesting "help" from unsuspecting members and then you'll rebut with your right-wing talking points and Darragh's prowl material.

 You disrespect my sisters here.

The chart makes a number of spurious claims:

1. According to the New York Times ( http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/04/us/politics/04ay... ), Ayers did not appoint Obama to the Woods fund board. He recommended someone else.

2.  While the chart claims that ACORN contributed to the housing crisis by helping unqualified poor people get NINA loans, it has been documented ( http://www.blogher.com/what-media-are-missing-abou... ) that a disproportionate share of those bad loans went to high income people, not poor people.

 3. The purported relationship between Obama and Franklin Raines is exaggerated at best, according to the Washington Post ( http://voices.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/2008... ), which was the source of the original claim.

4. In March, 2007. I wrote this ( http://www.blogher.com/node/17236 ) about Trinity United Church of Christ and Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, its former pastor. I stand by it.

5.I am not sure why George Soros and Moveon are cause for concern, any more than the plethora of right wing foundations and advocacy groups supporting Republican candidates and conservative causes.

6. The accusation that ACORN trains people in illegal activities really needs to be documented. Then one would have to establish that Obama knew about and condoned such illegal activity.

Your ad hominem attack is so typical of the far left loons.

Last I checked we live in United States of America, the home of free speech and free press.  Yes, that means I have a right to ask questions about a man that wants to become the president of this country.  What I find interesting and alarming is when people like me ask important questions or have concerns, the Obama supporters try to silence us or revert to name calling, (racist being the most popular tag).

Surprisingly, Sean Hannity on Fox News just had a show that addresses this topic.  I will continue to seek out the truth about Obama, I suggest that you do the same.

This is a concerted effort by some members of blog.pumapac.org to start trouble in this community.  Their hatred of Obama is so intense that they feel this need to spread mis-information across the blogosphere and obviously cannot do it honestly because PUMA has a very bad reputation.

Thanks for your concerns.  I'm an Independent voter and so are my husband and brother.  We wanted to be objective about our votes and choose the best of the best.  Unfortunately, it became all to apparent that MSNBC was alarmingly biased.  I had always been a viewer there. Then I went to CNN - same thing.  Finally I went to FOX News and I got a whole new perspective about the Presidential race for the White House.

I started researching what I could and I found that FOX was presenting information that hadn't been used on the other channels.  I then started going to different blogs for the truth.  There were not too many valid News articles, so I kept looking.

I never realized how uninformed I was.  It didn't take me long to realize that the media and News was in the "tank" for Obama.  I just kept researching.  Finally, I believe many of yours and my answers are going to be voiced in the coming weeks.

Keep posting your concerns and I promise you I'll be back.  In the meantime, put your Country First!  I'm doing that!  I want to preserve what is left of Democracy.  The only candidates that will do that are McCain and Palin.  If you still aren't sure, just go to any "Anti-Obama" sites and you will see the TRUTH! - not just talking points.

God Bless You and have a nice day!

I agree, it is very difficult to get unbiased news from mainstream media. Each election cycle, it seems they to choose a candidate early on, and then provide unfettered support for that candidate. I'm willing to bet that corporate decides which candidate is best for "their" bottom line. It takes a heck of a long time to read through everything, but, eventually, you will discover a few sources that upon which you can rely on, relatively speaking. Over the past few months I've relied heavily on alternative sources. I make daily rounds to Heidi Li's blog, Riverdaughter's blog, The Confluence, TomInPaine, and a site I found after I heard about it from someone from Just Say No, after she had been on FOX News a few times, it's called Puma PAC. I also pursue links to articles that comments provide on these sites.

I also just started listening to something called blogtalk radio. It's interesting because the programs are produced by ordianry folks, not professionals out to make a buck. They usually have a guest or two, and then take phone calls.

I know it's a lot of work staying abreast of things, and sorting the chaff from the wheat... but it's worth it to anyone who cares about the direction in which this country is headed.

You can not trust the main stream media to report anything factual Mick - they would prefer to report that Gov Palin padded her bra for the beauty contest, or make comments about her hairdo - or that one of her children cheated on a test - they reported on Hillarys Bosnia sniper fire - but avoided anything regarding Sen Bidens comments - it is biased and it is meant to sway the people to vote for the person THEY have chosen - Big Brother is here and here now -

There are so many websites that you can read about and thank God there is a person that has enough smarts to investigate before making that vote count - make it an informed vote:

I highly suggest that you visit http://blog.pumapac.org and read some of their past threads that gives links to Ayers, to Rezko, to Berg lawsuit - http://www.obamacrimes.com
to associations - to donations to charties - and this site quotes those that give the information - not just someone elses word for it.

I am so happy MICK that you made this blog for others to seek out the truth before committing.
