Seashore Learning

I was born and raised in San Diego, California. (Yes, pictures like this one and that one are from that bee-u-ti-ful city.) But, in addition to my dear and loving family and friends there, it’s the ocean that holds my heart. San Diego’s ocean simply beckons one to interact. And not just on the seashore, but in the water.

Yes, at this time of year the water is warming up. The outside temperature is just hot enough to convince even the wary to enter. And life is good.

So, we packed up our car and headed to the beach last week. We camped (well, trailer’d would be more precise…thanks Grandma and Grandpa). We ate. We drank. We were merry.

And the kids. They were tired beyond recognition. Playing at the beach all day does that do you. Doesn’t it? It does for me.

The kids…
dug holes,
drew lines,
explored sea weed,
chased waves,
were chased by waves,
froze,
baked,
stared at a dead dolphin washed ashore,
found sand dollars,
collected sea shells,
discussed jelly fish,
AND played endlessly.
