We all need role models. My mother, who parented six children (four of whom were adolescents at the same time) says her role model was St. Jane Frances de Chantal. In the 17th century St. Jane married and bore ten children, at which point she discovered her calling as a nun and – this was my mom’s favorite part – stepped over the wailing bodies of her children on her way out the door to the convent. For this the Catholic Church elevated her to sainthood.
