I am going through my house this morning and purging all evidence of work from the house. Before Lunch it will be relegated to the trunk of my car and not see the light of day until I get to work on Monday morning and drag it all in to my office to STAY.
I am the employee who is always willing to go the extra mile but the 5 miles from my house to office or rather the reverse are not happening for work stuff any more. I need to have a separation of home and work.
I have finally hit the wall. Not wanting to work at work because I know I will be spending a few hours proofreading or writing at home. I have used my home printer for more work related printing than scrapbooking. I have not had the dining room table free of work stuff for a month.
So what does this really mean?
It is a small step in getting out of the settled in to life. This year has had some unique challenges that made this separation harder. I have a demanding job but I have let it demand more time than needed. Making me both a less productive employee and not the person I want to be at home.
Yes I have not answered the door and the phone to friends because my house was not in the state of “company cleanliness” not even close. When you have to run 3 loads of dishes it is out of control.
I love to scrapbook I have not completed a page in 2010.
I love to cook but my kitchen has not seen much use beyond the microwave and the dishwasher in 2010.
I love to garden but the bushes out front are looking very shaggy no pruning in 2010.
I love to read ok that is the exception I have gotten through 3 books in 2010.
I hate people who read email while in line at the drive through, the post office, the express lane at the grocery store. YES you got it guilty, guilty and guilty all in March of 2010.
I hate it when you are getting a ride to lunch with someone and they have to get gas to make it back to work. Yes you got it guilty again.
I hate it when people haul piles of paper around like a pack animal the same pile gets taken home for nights on end with no real progress. YES that pile has even take a vacation with me this year.
I hate it when people will not take a sick day when they are hacking up a lung. Sorry officemates that was me coughing and popping Advil for the fever I had to work through in early Feb.
So will hauling all this work stuff out to the trunk really change me... NO I know that I will
