The weather here has finally turned, and I couldn't be happier...and, the last couple days, it has been uncharacteristically gorgeous outside with temperatures in the low 70s - crazy for April! We didn't miss a beat enjoying it, either...we took walks outside, made hamburgers and grilled them, and I of course did one of my favorite things - lounged on our patio swing and soaked in the sunshine while drinking some cold iced tea. We also started planning the demolition of the unruly landscaping in our backyard.
Up until this week, I always thought the best Tiramisu I ever had was in Rome, at this sweet little restaurant right near the Spanish Steps....sigh, I think I've changed my mind.My girls at school wanted to learn to make Tiramisu, I have made it at home for years, it was good, very creamy and delicious, but I was never thrilled with how it held up. So I started trolling for recipes and let me tell you there are as many different Tiramisu recipes as there are Italian grandmothers, each with their own little twist....more

Emma of Poires Au Chocolat is determined to make perfect hot cross buns. This is her second year tinkering with a recipe, and this time around, she worked on a version that uses homemade candied orange peel and orange syrup to provide a bright, fruity flavor to the buns. Though these are a traditional Good Friday and Easter sweet, Emma provides tips on freezing the baked buns and enjoying them whenever you're in the mood for a sweet, sticky bite.
