Share the Joy and Pay It Forward: Support Your Social Networks!

'Tis the Season... while we're busy blogging, reading blogs, cooking, and blogging some more, taking a few minutes each day to promote our favorite bloggers can give a significant boost to their own holiday cheer!

Here's what I try to do in order to promote my fellow bloggers, and my own blogs... it's all about The Power of Five:

  • For every blog post of my own that I write, I try to read 5 more.
  • For every blog post I write on my own blogs, I share via Share-a-holic or some similar social networking button, posting it to my Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, StumbleUpon, Delicious, PF Blogs, My Thriftability BlogFrog community, and my new BlogHer profile.  Yes - there are ways to do this in an all-in-one step, but often times I like to personalize what I share, so I don't sound like a robot.
  • And for each of those five blogs I read, then I do the same for those 5 bloggers whose posts I have enjoyed and share them via the social sharing buttons they (hopefully) have on their blogs.
  • I then take another few minutes to go to back through the recent "shares" "likes" and "retweets" on my favorite social networks and try to share at least 5 from people I don't know or whose blogs I have not read.

Does it take a little time? Sure. But in the same sense that we feel joy from sharing with our loved ones each holiday season, giving back and supporting our own network. Taking time to share, discover new blogs, and build strong social networks is one of the best gifts we can ask for - paying it forward and gaining good marketing karma in the process.
