The SITS girls take it a step further and ask us to Phoebe Buffay our way of thinking about promoting other people's work.  Instead of worrying about what we're going to get out of the promotion -- hoping that the other blogger will turn around and tweet or blog about our posts -- they instead ask people to promote for promotion's sake.  Because it builds community.  Because it's a nice thing to do.

I could give you a gentle nudge in the right direction – comment, Facebook share, and tweet other people’s posts.

But the important part that I want to highlight and underline and write in bold letters, is do these things because you love to.

Do them because you care about the people behind their own screens so very many miles away. Because you value their thoughts and ideas and know that others might feel the same way about them.

Read Galit's post on the SITS site; it's fantastic advice.

Use the comment section below to promote someone else's post. Yes, go pick out the best thing you've read today and let all of us know. And after you've done that, click on someone else's link so you can read their pick of the day. Take that, Joey Tribbiani.
