Is there anything Shaun White can't do?
One tweet I saw during the X Games final said something like: Rumor on the slopes is that Shaun White will attempt a quadruple cork in the superpipe while playing the guitar.
Well he might not be able to do that but it does seem to repeatedly pull off the impossible.
After re-injuring his ankle during Day 2 of X Games, White pulled out of the slopestyle competition. But he came back on Sunday for the superpipe and quickly demonstrated dominance by winning his fifth gold medal in a row.
Then after winning, he took a victory lap and scored a perfect 100. It was a sick run and the first perfect 100 score ever recorded in X Games history.
If you don’t think Shaun White is the best halfpipe snowboarder the world has ever seen, take a look at the run below.
Tricks (in order): Huge18-foot backside air, fronstside double cork 1080, Cab double cork 1080, a frontside stalefish 540, double McTwist 1260, frontside double cork 1260 (no one but White can throw this trick).
Some say perfect scores cap progression and the X Games 100 may have been a ratings stunt. Whether or not a couple tenths of a point should have been shaved off for the hand grab, it was one impressive run. It's unlikely White will stop pushing boundaries however, and we can't wait to see what he pulls out for the Sochi 2014 Olympics in Halpipe and Slopestyle.
