What being a cat owner means to me...

I had a friend recently tell me that she's contemplating getting a cat. Of course, since I'm the biggest "cat person" (her words) that she knows, naturally, she wanted to ask me for advice. What's it really like to be a cat owner? Well, let me tell you the truth, friends......more

The Furry Side of Family Fresh Meals ----- Part 3

Welcome back to the 3rd and final Furry Side of Family Fresh Meals posts. I hope you have enjoyed meeting my feline family members.  I know both Boss and Max have had fun getting all the camera attention from me....more

Meow Monday

Today, in addition to the cat pictures, I am going to tell you a little bit about how we adopted them! We adopted Jack on November 30, 2003, from a pet store at the mall. People would bring their kittens to the pet store to be adopted. We would go to the mall on Saturday's or Sunday's, and we always walked past the pet store. They had the same litter of kittens at the store for a few weeks. One Sunday we walked past the pet store and only one orange kitten was in the cage....more

The Things We Do Because We Love Our Luna [I ate cat food!]

Our cat is not spoiled. I could just be in denial - after all, isn't cat spoiling the stereotype? - but with four young kids I figure she earns her keep (and not just by keeping the mice out of the basement!). And I like to think that just like my kids, she gets some satisfaction out of having work to do... even if they/she whine about it....more

My SHEBA® Cat Food Kitty Project

I recently wrote a post in the SHEBA® Entrées for Cats series about our four cats and all their different personalities. I then actually tried out the SHEBA® food formulated without gluten or grain (well, have the CATS try out the food) to see how much they liked it. I wasn't too worried about that part of the project. I mean our cats love to eat, so it was kind of a no brainer....more

I'm Pleased to Introduce My Kitties

When you're a childless pet owner, your pets are your babies. Without question. They just are. As the movie Lady and the Tramp suggests, the furry babies eventually take a back seat to the hairless ones in terms of attention and affection, but they are no less dear to your heart....more

Moon the Kitchen Cat Loves SHEBA® Cat Food

My cat, Moon, is a kitchen cat. This is how he got his nickname: 1. He runs to the kitchen when he hears me in there even if he was in the middle of a deep sleep. 2. Every time I eat, he expects to eat too and will pester me with non-stop meowing, pawing at me with close-up, intense staring. 3. He's tall enough to stand with his paws perched on the edge of the kitchen table where he is eye-to-eye with whatever I'm eating....more

picky cats and pate

Why in the world would I write about SHEBA® Entrées for Cats? Pure and simple: it's the food my ridiculously picky cat actually likes. And when I say picky, I mean insanely, over the top, will only eat this kinda food picky. Spoiled much? Yes, yes he is :)...more

Purrrfect Mornings

And here is the post where I officially go out on a limb, show you all exactly how weird I am, and lose about 3% of my readership in the process. It’s okay, I’m willing to risk those odds because I must show you how cute my cat is....more

Two of a Kind

I came across all these photos from a few years ago of Rivey and Scully the other day. Things have changed for them since we brought Ada home from the hospital over 2 years ago. It's not that they aren't still very much a part of the family, they certainly are. But their role in our home is different now -- and they have grown closer than ever as a result!...more
