shoes for our new black

If chickens are, as they say, the new black, then seed catalogs are my new zappos.

Oh baby. I just got these in the mail and let me tell you.
Oh baby. They wow me all over the place

"Plug Spawn"!!!! "Mushroom Plugs"!! They look positively nasty, don't they? I want 'em!

And they are chock-full of interesting tid-bits like "Gel2root", enabling me to grasp that farming is not what it used to be. Gel2root. Whodathunk.

Coolest brocolli I have ever seen - purple! yellow!

And bad-ass cone-shaped cabbages, like something out of a sci-fi movie.

Speaking of which... "Superschmelz"!! Want!

I also want "Egyptian walking" - an onion of the most interesting variety. Can you imagine baking that, along with chicken or something and serving it to your unsuspecting friends?!!!

I want this if only for the name. "Honey! Don't forget to harvest some Drunken Woman Frizzy Headed, okay?!"

Same with "Flat of Egypt". Not as keen as the former, but still. Looks tasty, too. .

As do these "Dragon" carrots. I want them! All of them! Want, want, want!

 These too! The whole "Collection"!

 ***
And so. You see how it is. Just like zappos. Except that, unlike shoes, these actually feed your kids.

Moving on, very cool video that I saw on the Dog Farm Island blog about Esperanza of Pluck and Feather (she's the one with the ripping, drool-worthy chicken coop that I was telling you about and she was one of the people that told me to get my hay at the racetrack) -

I felt so happy, watching that, and thinking that she lives closeby, she is doing some marvelous work and she's nice.

This world just gets better and better doesn't it.

Except for this

As if the "Moxie Girls" weren't enough.

She doesn't seem like she cares all that much though.

Mmmm, no. But she will if those things catch on and become like Tampax. God forbid.

Yup. Okay, let's show our friends Audrey's Squashlings!

Here they are! Yay!!!

 Woo-hoooo!!!

Harvested dinner. From seed to soil to table. Hip, hip - horaaaaay!
