When I was little I watched shows like Star TrekThe Brady BunchThe Partridge Family, and Happy Days.  With the exception of flying through space at warp speed, and a family band touring on a psychedelic bus, these shows were about normal families, doing normal things.

But television these days is vastly different.  Rather than dreaming about being Nancy Drew and working with the Hardy Boys, my children dream about being a superstar.  Between Hannah MontanaVictorious, and Big Time Rush, both girls think it seems normal to want to have an entourage, a recording contract, and have a 15-city tour.

Because I don't think they are making them. We were just watching a new show on Disney called "Jessie." On one hand it was cool because the family was made up of internationally and racially diverse adopted children. But, they were being raised by the nanny. Realistic?

Chuckles! I guess it makes me a witch too! I think the Family Channel has gone too far with unrealistic roles of young women and beauty. How hard is it to create engaging content that shows diverse roles for girls? Why do we not see these programs?
