Should You Be Ashamed to be a Geeky Blogger?

When I was writing for Edge of Insanity, I rarely showed my geeky side. You know that side where Star Wars is king and steampunk bands rule my iPod? Because Edge of Insanity was a frugal living blog, I thought that talking about hordes of zombies from The Walking Dead or obscure Doctor Who quotes would send most of my followers running for their lives.

Then came the hard news that my family was facing eviction, and through the goodness of God, our landlord accepted our proposal and let us stay. When I first found out we might be evicted, I decided that my blog was not as important as I thought, and that's when I realized that maybe I wasn't doing it for me. It was trying to be the next best thing.  Since my twin sister is also a blogger, she asked me if I wanted to write part time for her blog.

So what is so special about my sister's blog? It is about everything I love- Star Wars, Doctor Who, The Walking Dead, geeky, nerdy, and all around awesomeness. But it is also about my sister's fight with General Anxiety Disorder. It also meant that I could add my piece of her anxiety posts and how I support her on a daily basis.

So if you're a closet geek or nerd, don't be afraid to show your true colors! Readers want something they can relate to, and if they see that you can bake a mean chocolate souffle but love minecraft, they will see that they aren't the only ones!

Let those geek and nerd flags fly!
