Should You Be Taking an Antioxidant Supplement?

Should you take an antioxidant? Should you not take an antioxidant? Personally, I think most people should. We all try to eat right, exercise and manage stress well, but honestly; I think we all fall short most days. Antioxidants can provide an extra level of protection for your health.I recommend getting your antioxidants through food, but I also encourage you to find a pharmaceutical grade, high-quality antioxidant tablet as well. Antioxidants can help boost your immune system, improve the damage caused by free radicals, increase energy and over all feelings of well being.

If you are looking for an antioxidant tablet, I suggest looking for one that has coenzyme Q10, selenium, vitamin E and mixed carotenoids. You may also want to seek out a qualified health professional that can give you a much more personalized recommendation.

One of my favorite ways to incorporate antioxidants is by eating fresh fruit salad. It tastes wonderful, the fiber is great for us, and the natural antioxidants aid the body’s defenses. According to the USDA, these fruits are exceptionally high in antioxidants:

Wild blueberries
Cranberries
Blackberries
Prunes
Raspberries
Strawberries
Red delicious apples
Granny Smith apples
Sweet cherries
Black plums

I can’t imagine fruit salad without pineapple, so I include it every time. Add whatever fruits make it enjoyable for you. Experiment by adding new fruits to your favorite standbys such as: kiwi, mango, peach, passion fruit, star fruit, and mangosteen.

Be the Path!
