Did you celebrate May Day yesterday?

Me? A day at the park with cousins.
And you? Show me a picture or leave me a comment!

I celebrated two exciting events on the First of May! Divine Mercy Sunday and the beatification of Pope John Paul II!
I spent the afternoon after Mass enjoying beautiful weather and friends!
We left flowers on our grandparent's porches since they live close by. And then we hoped, wished, and prayed that it would be nice and warm...finally. We are ready for a park day with our own cousins too. :)

We make flower baskets (paper cones) decorate them, fill with flowers and deliver. It's a tradition that I follow like my mom and I did when I was little.
My 5 and 3 year old were troopers walking over a mile to deliver them!
The picture is here...

The very first song I learned on the dulcimer was "The May Day Carol." It's such a sweet song that I learned from Jean Ritchie. I'm sure you could find her on YouTube singing "The Cool of the Day." But here are the words to "The May Day Carol." Sorry, couldn't find an audio link.
May Day Carol
I've been a-wandering all the night
And the best part of the day
Now I'm returning home again
I bring you a branch of May
A branch of May, my love, I say
Here at your door I stand
It's nothing but a sprout, but it's well budded out
By the work of the Lord's own hand
Take a bible in your hand
And read a chapter through
And when the day of judgment comes
The Lord will think of you
In my pocket I've got a purse
Tied up with a silver string
All that I do need is a bit of silver
To line it well within
My song is done and I must be gone
I can no longer stay
God bless you all both great and small
And send you a joyful May
