Gena Haskett took a comprehensive look at how you can safely and legally photograph or video record your vote. After you read her primer, grab your camera and whether you vote early or on November 4, we hope you'll share your photos and videos.
On November 4 show us your vote, using Mr Linky. And if you take your pictures with a vertical orientation you might be featured on the BlogHer masthead (read more about how to have your photos featured on BlogHer here). Be sure to tag your photos and videos with both "BlogHer" and "ElectionDay08" so I can find you.
Until then, here are some inspirational photographs* to give you some ideas

Eeeek!
I got so worked up I forgot to record it!
I started crying about twenty steps away from my house and had to call my mom to calm myself down. Alas - I'm looking forward to other people's pictures and video and whatnot. I'm so annoyed with myself, but I'm so excited that I don't care that much.
Have a great day, everyone!

I got there at about ten minutes to six and waited about two hours before I got inside.
This is the only decent shot right now, but I have more coming:

Jjust got back! There was a line, but not too bad. If you have more than one precinct voting in your polling place, go in, check and make sure you are in the right line! Don't just get in the line outside!! Or you will probably wait longer than you have to! Denise LaymanVisit my blog:

Voted in Louisiana this morning
But I didn't record my vote, However, I took a picture of my daughter once we were done and outside and wrote about what happened in line at my own blog, including the guy who tried to videotape when he exited the booth, but was told he couldn't do that.
All in all 90 minutes.
I watched video of the Obamas voting, and read that Sarah Palin voted but will not tell for whom she voted, citing privacy, but we assume she voted for her own ticket.

A reminder to CA voters
If you did not get a chance to mail your absentee ballot, you can drop it at any polling place without waiting in line. Just hand it to the poll workers in the signed envelope.
If you spoiled your absentee ballot, you can vote at your normal precinct. Tell the poll workers you spoiled your ballot and would like a new one. You get a real ballot, NOT a provisional one if you are listed on the registration rolls.
Please tell your friends, since not everyone knows this.
I wish I could be smiling
I'm currently waiting on a phone call back from the Board of Elections in Lucas County, Ohio.
I showed up at the polls this morning just after they opened. After waiting in line for about 20 minutes, I approached the check-in table and was directed to a table for my local precinct, 11N. I waited in that line for close to another 20 minutes, realizing that the people working at that particular table didn't seem to know what they were doing.
When it was my turn to approach the table, they couldn't find my name on the voter registration list. They went in search of the precinct captain who kept managing to vanish even though the room we were in is not that large. The word came back that I would have to fill out a provisional ballot.
I was handed the two page paper ballot by a gentleman who truly seemed overwhelmed and confused. He also gave me a yellow sheet to fill out for a provisional ballot with no instructions on what I needed to do. I filled out my ballot and approached the table again, looking for further instructions. The gentleman had me place my paper ballot into the box with all other paper ballots. Only then did I realize that the yellow sheet was actually an envelope that MY paper ballot should have been placed in before dropping it into the box. The gentleman realized he'd made a mistake and went in search of the precinct captain again. I stood waiting at the ballot box, trying not to either scream in rage or burst into tears. He returned, took the yellow envelope from me, dropped it into the ballot box and said, "We'll sort it out at the end of the day."
Even it that was the right way to handle it, and I can't see any circumstances where it would be the right way, he never signed the provisional ballot sheet to witness my own signature. So, in all kinds of ways, my ballot is invalid. Except that it's now in a box with all of the other paper ballots that people chose to fill out.
And the kicker came an hour later, when my son went to vote. I had called him to warn him that I hadn't been on the list. My son was also directed to the table for 11N, but someone there figured out that because our address is an even number, we were on the list for 11F.
I've reported this to the Lucas County Board of Elections, but I have no idea how they'll solve this. If my provisional ballot is invalid, does that make all of the other paper ballots invalid as well? Will they just figure out that I was registered to vote and count my ballot along with the rest of them, even though technically it was dropped in the wrong precinct box?
Seriously, I want to cry.
I also just learned that my niece in SC, who is blind and voting for the first time, was told she had to stop voting because she'd gone over the time limit allowed. How on earth is that legal? She did manage to cast her vote for president, but there were other races that she was unable to vote on.
Disorderly Conduct
How frustrating!
I think you are on the right path calling your board of elections. There are a number of organizations watching the elections in Ohio, in particular so you might try searching for some of those and contacting the campaign of either Obama or McCain if you support one of those candidates as I'm certain both have teams of lawyers in the state.
And I've never heard of such a thing for your daughter - I can't believe they have a time limit and even if they did that it would be enforceable for a blind person if she needs accommodation. I hope that can be challenged.
My personal experience has been that poll workers can be inadequately trained, confused and overwhelmed especially in an election such as this with such high turnout. Sadly I think it falls to us to know the law well enough so we can push back if we are given bad information which it sounds like may have happened to your family.
I wish you the best in getting your ballot counted!

I voted!
I'm rather sad my kids were too sick to come watch history, but they kind of didn't care anyway.
I was on my voter rolls twice. Once as Erin Vest and once as Erin Kotecki Vest. I helped the poll workers correct the mistake and I only took one ballot, of course.
I studied and researched all my local judges, referendums, etc. And voting took me only about 1 minute.
I cried when I handed in my ballot. Then I went and got a free starbucks.
Sigh. Today needs to go faster.

I feel a little sad about the fact that I voted last week and mailed in my absentee ballot. Not only do I not get to have the experience of going into the polling booth, I don't even get an "I Voted!" sticker. It's a shame! I did, however, write a blog post about my vote.

Great Article
I did that in 2004 when I walked into my polling station and saw the dreaded Diebold machines. Thank goodness for camera phones, not sure I would have done that if I had to run home, grab my camera, and again wait in what was a 2 hour line in Virginia. Today, in Manhattan, I had no lines when I arrived and no need for my camera. It was a truly great election day, no Diebold machines!

Want me to see if I can get one for you?
Even if it's from hardcore Obama territory? ;)
More hardcore than here? lol
Nah. I'll suffer through living in Obama-land with crummy stickers. It's the status quo, might as well get used to it.
:-)
You're kind to offer, though.

What's your Congressional District?
I'm curious - I wouldn't be surprised if we have a higher percentage go for Obama in mine. :)
Actually, you may be right

Obama!
I voted for Obama last week via mail-in ballot. Can't figure out how to post a picture here, but I did take a photo of myself voting in this historic election.
Love seeing this unbelievable turnout!
Happy Election Day, everyone!

The easiest way to add it is to use Mr. Linky up above. Or if you want to put a link to it in the comments I can go find it and add it for you.
