Shutter Sisters Sneak Peek

This past week I enjoyed a sneak peek at the brand new photoblog ShutterSisters, a dream project created by professional photographer Tracey Clark. Unlike most photoblogs where a single photographer posts a daily photo and invites a few comments, Shutter Sisters aims to create a bustling online community where photographers of all levels and experience can share not only their best shots but their insights about composition and post-processing as well.

To fulfill this mission, Tracey Clark invited some of the web's best photographers to serve as regular contributors. And she didn't ask just anyone. Tracey specifically wanted women--women who were riding the new wave of interest in digital photography, fueled in part by photo sharing sites like Flickr and easy-to-use processing tools such as Adobe's Light Room.

She was also looking for bloggers--women who understood the viral nature of the web and the power of one beautiful image to make a blog a primarily visual medium. Above all, she wanted to invite contributors who filled the frame with a perspective that transforms a simple moment into something magic.

I might be partial, but I think these founding Shutter Sisters are truly some of the best on the web, for all the reasons listed above and more. The "Sisters" include Kate Inglis of Sweet/Salty, Karen Walrond of Chookooloonks, Maile Wilson of Daily Relish, Andrea Scher of Superhero Journal, Krystyn Heide of SquareSpace fame, Paige Balcer of Look Away, Irene Nam of Momster, and Sarah Ji of Shutterbug Mama.

Decide for yourself. Here's a sampling of featured photos.
