Simple for Summer
By Michele Pesula ... on May 12, 2009
Hot, sticky weather is only a few weeks away where I live. We have had a few days with temperatures in the 80s that remind us that summer should arrive soon.
After a winter of cold, ice and snow, it's easy to get used to drinking hot beverages and avoiding anything with ice. However, we get our share of hot and humid days in the summer, so it's time to think about sipping beverages. Although I enjoy creating outlandish creations with my martini shaker, sometimes it is nice to simply put an ingredient or two in a glass with ice and stir.
With cold and simplicity as my goals for this new beverage, I created a tasty drink that only required two ingredients. In fact, it is so simple, I almost hesitate to call this a cocktail recipe. Whatever you want to call it, this icy drink will be the perfect grown-up beverage to enjoy while sitting in the shade of your front porch (or the comfort of your air conditioned living room) on a hot summer afternoon.
