Sit Up Straight!
You know how everyone says newborn babies look like little old men? Well, my twins are 6 years old and they still look like little old men -- at least when they're hunched up in front of the computer. Usually they're perfect little soldiers, with great posture when they're sitting criss-cross-applesauce on the kindergarten rug, or when they're at a picnic table bench, or when they're standing in line. But when they get in front of the computer, they slouch -- and I'm starting to get concerned about their posture while they're online.
I think the problem is really that our computer is set up for grownups. The height and depth of the chair, the height of the keyboard, the tilt of the monitor are all set so that my husband and I can type for hours without developing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome -- and maybe our kids are suffering. Our keyboard tray is not height adjustable. The most I do is tilt the monitor downwards when they use it so they don't have to strain their necks looking up.
Does anyone know of any kid-friendly keyboards or mouse pads designed just for kids? Or know of any tips to improve the ergonoomics of our computer set up? They're online for about 1 hour per day, so maybe I'm just being paranoid.
