A 17-year-old Tweets the Names of her Attackers--and She Could Be the One Facing Jail

[Editor’s note: Savannah Dietrich was sexually assaulted by two boys. That much is fact. The 17-year-old was also unconscious when the boys attacked her. That is a fact, too. The boys admitted it, and in exchange got a very nice plea deal. But now Savannah is the one facing jail time because she tweeted their names. How’s that for justice? Amelia McDonell-Parry has a post about the infuriating case at The Frisky.—Mona]

“So many of my rights have been taken away by these boys,” Dietrich said. “I’m at the point, that if I have to go to jail for my rights, I will do it. If they really feel it’s necessary to throw me in jail for talking about what happened to me … as opposed to throwing these boys in jail for what they did to me, then I don’t understand justice.”
