Adding Circular Bokeh To Photos in GIMP

GIMP is an open source photo editor (as in free) that does about the same things as Photoshop. This article from sommerfugl design explains how to use GIMP to blur certain areas of a photo for an artistic effect using technique called bokeh.

When most people think of bokeh, they are thinking of those faded globes that you sometimes capture in your photos. However, bokeh is really any area that is blurred in a pleasing way. That being said, most of us love having circular bokeh, but it can be hard to capture. You can however add it in afterwards. Here is an easy way to do it in GIMP.
