An Apology From a Charismatic to the Wary
By A Deeper Church on September 11, 2012
This post was written as an apology from a member of the Charismatic Movement to others who may have been put off by their religious fervor:
"I have to start this letter by asking you to forgive us. Those of you who avoid 'experiences' at church, who avoid the more charismatic among us, will you forgive us? Will you forgive the more fervent among us who call ourselves charismatic? I’m just going to go ahead and say that many of us have ruined some things between you and Jesus. We maybe scared you a little. Some of us may have told you that there were laws attached to Jesus’ heart. That you had to follow them precisely or you wouldn’t receive His Spirit. That you couldn’t cut your hair or wear pants or jewelry or makeup and, if you did, it was a sign of your unholiness. That you weren’t spiritual enough or good enough, if you weren’t experiencing what everyone else was. We were wrong."
