I've been a member of plenty of book clubs—some of them involved actually reading books, and some of them, well, not so much. But I've always loved the camaraderie and fellowship that comes from a gathering centered around some shared experience. It's never occurred to me, however, to be part of a cookbook club: a book club where the group focuses on a particular cookbook each time, and cooks recipes from the chosen book. It's a delicious twist on something I already know I like, and I appreciated hearing all about the club of which Tara Austen Weaver of Tea & Cookies is now part. That club, which was founded by Seattle's Maggi McConnell, is the subject of the interview in the fun and informative post below.

How To Start A Cookbook Club

Just Do It. I’ve seen lots of people saying they wish they could do something like this—there’s absolutely nothing stopping you! Invite your friends, pick a book, cook something, and eat it. It’s not complicated unless you make it so.

This sounds really cool once a month event. I will have to talk my friends about starting one of these clubs. Thanks for the informative post.

I just had a lovely thought. Wouldn't it be great to do a virtual club, of-sorts? Like, from home ~ choose a recipe, make it and take pictures to post and share on BlogHer. And then, of course, post a blog about the recipe chosen, with a little history, even oops and and failures. It's just a thought. (Smiling!)lainierenee

I too love this post. I read cookbooks for pleasure and inspiration in other facets of my life. And I actually use them as a starting point for cooking, which I love to do. What a great idea

Now this is something I could really go for, because I love to cook, and I have a huge library of cookbooks. I only need to find friends willing to join in, and not tell me they are always busy. Maybe I'll start with my daughters. (Smiling!)

I loved this post. Thank you!

Sounds like you've been possessed by the ghost of Steve Jobs. Gives a whole new approach to using a touch screen. :-)
