Raise your hand if you're trying to grow your blog and you have a blog plan. I'm going to guess that very few people have their hands raised. Blog plans are a moot point for people who look at blogging as a hobby or their site as a space to keep a record of their life or disseminate news to friends and family.
But others have found that blogging has evolved to be something more than a hobby. It may be your art form, and you'd like to hone your skills and get better. It may be a testing field for your writing career, and you'd like more eyes on your work. It could become an arm of your business or the business itself. If you're blogging with personal or career goals in mind, you may want to create a blog plan.
Midlife Mixtape has a great post outlining how you can do just that:
Writing is a non-linear pursuit, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a plan for it. About the only thing I like better than writing is planning, which is why many of my corporate titles included that word: strategic planning, product planning, marketing planning, with a side order of party planning. I could run the Super Bowl Halftime Show and a small country, if I just had enough paper for checklists. My writing was just another product that needed some goals, a timeline, and some metrics to measure how it’s all working. Ever since then I’ve spent the last week in December writing my own strategic plan for the year ahead.
