the accusations and lies bruised, gashed and tormented himface worn; drawn; eyes recoiled from the painfalsely accused, threads of scorn swirling about his headJudas nearby, dipping his bread into the cupknowing the outcome, and realizing that the cup cannot pass by, he reclines at the crossthe sideward glances, the whispers, the storieswhere is the truth?the accusers knowthey have prepared the tableand forced their bitter food upon the ignorantfilling their bellies with mistrust, rumor, and deceptionyet, still he stands, publicly scourged, an innocent manthe parallels are astoundinggentle, virtuous, servant, caring and Christ-likescourged as He was, but not for our sinsscourged by the impotence of those who lie comfortably in their beds of fabricationdespite the appearancethey have not forced him into insignificanceas Jesus emerged from the empty tombhe also has emerged, stronger, cloaked with his Father in Heavenbeneath the silvery swamp that used to weep, I see hopeno longer resolutethe hope of the resurrection springs forththeir hopes to destroy have failedthe stone rolled away and he has emerged, beaten but not destroyedhis strength Is The Lord and he witnessed this love while nailed to his own crossfor he was not abandoned in his time of needhe is learning his purposethe reason for sufferingand his followers are manyhe has yet to see the plethora of hearts he has touchedbut he will.... he has touched mine . . .
