For many of us, the gradual habit of making your own (insert product here) is becoming habit. Concerns about excessive packaging and harmful chemicals are leading us back to our DIY-roots. Here's a wonderful 'recipe' for deodorant that evidently works great. Being Green doesn't mean we have to stink:

"I loved the Trader Joe's deodorant, and Toms of Maine, and other non-toxic deodorants I have used BUT they don't really work that well. I feel bad saying it, but they quit by the end of the day. I just assumed that was the nature of using non-toxic deodorants and have lived with it for far too long. Until now."

I can't say I have. And I was totally against it but after reading some of your comments I may try it.

I'm going to try this. I'm almost through my year-long supply of Dove and had intended to buy something containerless at LUSH. Sounds like this might be better, though!

I use the coconut oil and cornstarch mixture (have for years). works great and smells good when I put it on :)

Yes, I have, but unfortunately my skin seems to be more sensitive in my old age. I used coconut oil and I broke out like crazy :(

I'm using it right now! I've mixed a ratio of 1:6 baking soda to cornstarch (I had a bad reaction to the 1:1 mix, so I'm starting light and working up the baking soda content until I find the fine line where it works well and also doesn't burn me.) and powder it onto my pits with a make-up brush. So far I'm loving it!

I went this route. Worked fine against the odor (at least if I only was out for my 9-5). But in the summer, I got a horrid rash from the mild perspiration. So sorry, no fire pits > worrying about aluminum poisoning.
