[Editor's Note: This trio of condiments are a great idea for DIY food gift-giving. They're an unusual option -- a fun alternative to the standard jams and jellies that often show up during the season -- and so much better than the processed stuff you'll find at your local grocery store. And they're terrifically colorful, to boot! Your recipients are certain to enjoy these homemade treats, whether on hamburgers or hot dogs, or to jazz up some other casual dish. --Genie]
Take That, Heinz
Nearly every year, we give away some sort of hand-made food product for the holidays. In the past, we've given jams, chutneys and pasta sauce. This year, we decided to take on the holy trinity of American condiments: Ketchup, mustard and relish. After all, why pay less than two dollars in the grocery store for what you can make at nearly equivalent cost plus hours of back-breaking labor?
