Evergreen Placemats Freebie

I thought you might enjoy reading about our Evergreen placemats.....since there is usually only three of us for dinner....my dad, Bob and me....3 will work out just fine.When I was going through the container with Christmas fabric in it I found this neat red plaid that I have had for quite some time and then I saw the green with gold holly leaves......since I was working on my Evergree Tree Table Runner tutorial I decided to make the tree a little taller and skinnier for a placemat.First I cut out my evergreen trees with a fusible on the back. I cut my fabric 13 inches by 17 inches and appliqued the tree with free motion stippling. I then put the 2 layers and a layer of batting cut 12 x 16 together and just did some straight stitching to hold the pieces together and also stitched around the outside about 1/2 inch from the edge.My plan was to make rag place-mats.....honestly.....I'm not crazy about all that cutting! . . .
