Gifts That Won't Clutter

It's the gifts we dread - the crazy nic-nacs that you will have to dust for the next 20 years, the inevitable Chia Pet and just one more photo frame. One woman fights the clutter fight with a list of gifts that people actually need and use:

"I tried to keep the gift certificate suggestions to a minimum, but did add some specific ones. I can't think of a teen who wouldn't love a movie theater gift certificate. If you want to turn it into a gift that's wrappable, add a box of candy."

Thanks so much for featuring my blog post! There are tons of great ideas for non-cluttering gifts! I love it when people get my 3-year-old son Play-doh. He might not seem too excited when he opens it, but he plays with it often. Seriously, it'll get played with hours more than the gift that got the immediate "wow" reaction that seems to end up in the cluttered toy box after ten minutes.

Those cards remain in landfills forever. I like the paper ones much better than the plastic. At least they biodegrade.

Donating is a GREAT way to declutter, but maybe not such a great way to give gifts to children - lol. I don't think my kids would go for it if I said I donated their old clothes/toys in their name for their Christmas gifts! I love to get them things I know they will use!
