God (via Rick Santorum) to Women: You Can't Be President

[Editor's note: With the South Carolina primary coming up, it’s time to talk about Rick Santorum. Apparently, the presidential wannabe believes women’s place is in the home and not in the White House. And that God wants it that way. I’m sure women across the country will be thrilled to hear that. As Jenna Goudreau reveals at Forbes.com, this fascinating tidbit surfaced in an email by one of Santorum’s top staffers.--Mona]

She writes:

On Friday, The Des Moines Register reported that Jamie Johnson, Iowa coalitions director for GOP presidential hopeful Rick Santorum, sent an email from his private account in June implying that children would suffer if America had a female president.

Johnson, tasked with building support for Santorum among Iowa’s evangelical community, wrote in the email: “The question then comes, ‘Is it God’s highest desire, that is, His biblically expressed will, … to have a woman rule the institutions of the Family, the Church, and the State?’”

I know they don't believe this, but people like this are preaching themselves into irrelevancy on the world stage.

Don't you love how everything remotely controversial that politicians want to do is now wrapped up and presented as God's message?

Awww, Tiffiny! lol ;) And I agree with your comment as well. If that is what conservatives really feel and just never really said before, that is some scary stuff. Thank God (yup) for something called the CONSTITUTION, but I think Santorum and those other crazies keep forgetting that piece of paper.

Hahaha! I tell my girls they can be whatever they want to be. Is he really saying what conservatives want to hear? Yikes. Polish Mama on the Prairie--Your comments always make me laugh! :D

Just shoot the bastard and rid the world of his stupidity. If women ruled the world, it would be a much nicer place. No egos or d*cks to get in our way!

I'm pretty sure God doesn't care who our president is.

Wow. No man or woman has the right to proclaim that they speak the word of God unless they are a prophet. Is Santorum claiming that he is a prophet now? Who is he? The next Jesus? I don't think so. He's just another politician, aka Mafia.

I teach my daughters about God and that God made them with special talents. If my daughters don't become politicians, I'll frankly be surprised because they are extremely intelligent and great at discussions. But I already told them that if they turn out to become crooked politicians, only God will save them from the public butt whipping that I will do right there on the Senate floor.

Wait... that "God believes"??? There are so many things wrong with that phrase.

Well, I'm telling her that she can and should be president, and that there is no god. :)

I actually have a female acquaintance who believes exactly that -- I shouldn't be working outside the home; I should have as many kids as God sees fit; I should support my husband in his every decision and recognize him as the Head of our family. It is not "our" place to do the jobs of men.
Um, we don't talk much.
